A goodbye email, as the name suggests, is a form of communication whereby a person bids farewell either to individuals, an organisation, group, institution or a locality. But mostly it is sent to colleagues while leaving a company, where a person bids goodbye to the co-workers one has grown close to.
Goodbye emails can be formal or informal depending on the work culture of the organisation. Accordingly, one may cite humorous incidents or keep it brief and short.
Even if one has had any unpleasant experience in the organisation, it is better not to mention any of those in a goodbye email. Stick to the positive aspects of the work and what you will miss in that place.
One can also thank certain colleagues for their support and guidance and wish them luck for their future. Lastly, you can give your contact details so that your co-workers can be in touch with you.
